New Believers-
Growing Faith
Cell Group Meeting 1
Introduction
Mention the standard cell structure... the 4 Ws.
Welcome (Ice Breaker)
Where did you do most of your growing up? What is one vivid memory from that time of your life?
How did you come to be a follower of Jesus?
Worship
Three songs:
Word
1. Read 1 John 2:1-14.
2. John seems to be saying here that it's possible to live and not sin. What do you think about this? Is it a legalistic thing or something different?
3. What is the connection between loving Jesus and our relationships with others?
4. Is John saying that loving your brother is the way to be saved?
5. In verses 12-14, John seems to be suggesting that there are levels of maturity in the christian life. Have you ever thought of this before? How do you think a person might progress from one level to the next?
6. What are the characteristics of “dear children”? Of “young men”? Of “fathers”?
7. Where do you think you fit in that scale?
8. What do you think you need to do to move forward?
Witness
Evangelism is central to the life of a cell. Sometimes we will be working hard at bringing people in to the group. Other times we will pray for people we know. I would like for us to develop a common list of people for whom we will all pray for them to know Jesus.
Housekeeping/ Homework
Where would you like to meet next week?
Who would like to organise worship?

Quiet Time
Welcome (Ice Breaker)
How did you come to be a follower of Jesus?
Worship
Pray using only “Thank you” prayer
Word
1. Homework. Did everyone read James? Any problems? Any questions?
2. Tonight we are talking about the need for regular devotional time or “Quiet Time.”
3. What is your experience of this? Is it easy or hard? What makes it work/ not work?
4. Read Mark 6:30-52. What stands out to you about this passage? Note verses 30, 46. To walk in the power of the Holy Spirit we need daily time with God.
5. What do you think Jesus had in mind for the apostles' time?
6. What do you think Jesus prayed about?
7. Two aspects- word, prayer. Journal, helpers (WFTD, EDWJ etc). Write your thoughts about Bible passage, and prayers. SOAP! Important- let God set the agenda not the little book!
8. What are some ways we can encourage each other to be more diligent in seeking the Lord?

How To Pray
Welcome (Ice Breaker)
Can you think of an amusing time when you completely misunderstood what someone was saying?
Worship
Word
1. Homework. Did everyone read Mark 1-9? Any problems? Any questions?
2. Tonight we are looking at how to pray. What is the hardest thing about prayer, in your experience? Do you go through hot and cold times?
3. What areas do you most pray about?
4. Read Matthew 6:5-13. What sinful attitudes towards prayer is Jesus condemning here? If Jesus were here tonight, how do you think he might translate these statements?
5. Look at the Lord's prayer. There are 5 petitions here:
-
Adoration/ Worship
-
Intercession
-
Prayer for me
-
Confession
-
Prayer for strength
How do you feel about this as a model for prayer?
Compare with ACTS.
Order is not important so much as the balance.
6. The act of prayer is more important than the content. Actually doing it is more important than getting it right.
7. Does anyone have anything they would like prayer for?
Witness
Pray for people on the prayer list to come closer to Jesus.
Housekeeping/ Homework
