israel iran

The recent escalation of conflict between Iran and Israel has brought out the so-called “prophecy experts” in droves, saying how it is all right there in the Bible proving that we really are in the last days.

Of course, this added to the frenzy caused in October 2023 when Hamas launched its despicable terrorist attack on civilians, committing terrible atrocities for their cause. And that was right there in the Bible too.

I am old enough now to remember how the world was supposed to end in 1988, marking 40 years after the establishment of Israel. I can remember how Henry Kissinger (who was he?) was definitely the Anti-Christ.

In more recent times, there were the so-called blood moons and the solar eclipses over the United States, and it goes on. It only took hours before someone was proclaiming that the new Pope was definitely the Anti-Christ.

Looking back through history, there have always been some christians who believed that “the end is nigh” and that some contemporary figure was the Anti-Christ. It seems to be hard-wired into some personalities to believe that their generation is special and that they live in a special time.

In this time, more than any previous age, we have access to news and information all day every day. It feels like there are more wars, famines and earthquakes than ever. But that is only because we hear far more about even the most remote places than before.

Yes, Jesus will return, but nobody, not even the “prophecy exerts”, knows the date. Until that time there will be frightening events happen all over the world.

Paul gives us great advice in Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
