7. In verses 12-15, Jesus describes a process of imparting truth. How would you explain what he is saying here? Do you think that this is an important role of the Holy Spirit?

3. Last week we showed video of Steve Holstrom. Talking about the difference the anointing or leading of the Holy Spirit makes in what we do for God.
4. Read Acts 2:1-21. This is experience called the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The main sign here is the gift of tongues. What is your experience of this?
5. Why is tongues a sign of surrender to the Holy Spirit, do you think?
6. How did the baptism change the disciples?
7. What effect did this experience have on the people around?
8. Why is the gift of the Holy Spirit sign for unbelievers?
9. Three uses of tongues:
a. initial sign of baptism
b. prayer language. 1 Cor. 14:14-15
c. Prophetic sign. Public tongues plus interpretation. 1 Cor. 14:16-17

4. Read 1 Corinthians 12:1-13.What strikes you about this passage?
5. How are we to understand spiritual manifestations?
6. Of the manifestations listed in verses 8-10, are there any that you don't understand?
7. What experiences have you had of these?

2. Have there been opportunities to talk to people about Jesus?
3. Last week we talked about the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. Any thoughts about this?
4. Read Romans 12:3-8. Here we have the seven motivational gifts- prophecy, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leadership, mercy.
5. What do you notice about the language Paul uses here? Compare to 1 Corinthians 12.
6. Tell the pavlova story. What would be your reaction? Who do you relate to?
7. What are the important keys to using our gifts to God's glory?
8. Because these gifts are hard-wired into our personality, they have the capability of being used for selfish or ungodly means. An you think of ways this might happen?

6. Out of the qualities listed as “fruit”, which do you think are evident in your life? Which do you struggle with?
7. How can we grow in these qualities? What holds us back from doing this?
8. What specifically do you need to do to “keep in step with the Spirit”?
